Required Summer Reading List, 2011

Pre-K3 and PreK4
Parents should select one of the books listed and read this book aloud to and with their child. The bold print title with the asterisk* is a good book for reviewing counting and colors.

*NOTE: Please know that our students in grades 1st -6th will participate in the STB School wide Reading Fair to be held in November 2011. So, please make sure that our students read their books and prepare a project backboard.

Grades K-1st
The Kindergarten and first grade students will be required to read two (2) books from the summer reading list. Students in the grades listed are required to read the bold print title with the asterisk* for that grade. Kindergarten and first grade students will be asked to share one thing that they liked about one of the two books that they have read.

Grades 2nd-6th
The students in grades two through six will be required to read three (3) books from the summer reading list. Students in the grades listed are required to read the bold print title with the asterisk* for that grade. In addition, each student should choose one of the books listed that they have read from their grade group to complete an activity or a project. The activity or project will detail what they have read. It could be a summary report (2 handwritten pages or 1 typed page), poster board, or daily journal/diary. The daily journal/diary would outline day-by-day what was read and liked about the story. The activity or project will be due within the first two weeks of returning to school. More information will be given when the students report.
